Teacher, Parent, and Student Resources for All Grade Levels

http://www.roythezebra.com/ - this website has interactive games that focus on aspects of teaching early literacy. I think this site is beneficial for students who struggle or just need a little extra help with vowels, rhyming, long vowel phonemes, singular or plural forms, high frequency words, double consonants, and alphabetical order. I have used this website for fourth grade students who struggled with decoding.

I give this website a 5 out of 5 stars! I think that it is beneficial for all learners of ELA. It would make a great addition for the computer station in any classroom. I think a quick tutorial would be necessary but students can navigate this site without a lot of problem.

www.Sadlier-oxford.com/phonics/student.cfm - games that are entertaining, yet teach phonics skills. This website is AWESOME for all grade levels. It works on everything from phonics skills to dictionary skills to analogies. It has everything from grades Pre-K to 6th grade! The games are entertaining and will keep students attention. I have used this with fourth graders and they really enjoy it and it helps them work on their phonics skills while having fun.

I give this website a 5 out of 5 stars! It is easily navigated by all grade levels and it works on the necessary phonics skills that all students need at every grade level. Students can work on specific skills or reinforce other skills they have already learned. I love the section on sight words as well because I have used that part with a struggling kindergarten student and they loved it while enforcing the skills the student needed.

www.Softschools.com/language_arts/phonics/ - website for phonics resources for teachers and students. This site is great for teachers because it offers phonics worksheets and different ideas to work with students on phonics activities. It also goes as far as middle school students and it has a lot to offer. There are a ton of online activities for the students like CVC pattern, r-controlled vowels, phonics games, digraphs, diphthongs, geometry, exponents and a lot more. This site offers help in ELA plus math, science and other areas as well.

I give this site a 4 out of 5 stars. I like the fact that it goes as far as middle school and I like the fact that it has a lot of components that help with not just phonics but math and science. Some of the online games are a little outdated but they do serve the purpose of reinforcing skill based knowledge.

www.readingonline.org/articles/art_index.asp?HREF = literacy related topics in the area of adolescent instruction. This website is great for teachers, administrators and parents to get information about adolescent instruction. The articles are research-based and would be helpful when planning instruction.

http://www.kwiznet.com/ - information on common word derivatives and ways to learn them to enhance spelling and vocabulary. Very effective tool in preparing for SATs. This website is great for high school students and elementary students to reinforce skills in all areas of education.

I would give this website a 4 out of 5 stars. It is a better website for high school students I think than elementary because it is a little confusing to navigate because it really wants you to subscribe to the site for more information and help.

http://www.littlecritter.com/ - listen and explore Mercer Mayer books. Activities, games, background information, printables. This is a great website for an author study on Mercer Mayer! Mercer Mayer actually reads the books himself and I think this would be so much fun for the students to see the author reading his own book! This website is a fun interactive website for young children.

I give this website a 4 out of 5 because I think it would be great for a center activity and author study but there are not a lot of skill based literacy activities here.

http://www.hubbardscupboard.org/ - Lots of ideas for parents and educators! I use this site a lot for printables, literacy ideas, math and other sources as well. It is a handy tool for educators because of the printables and it also helps parents become more familiar with education at home. This site is easily navigated for students, parents and educators. There are lots of printables in all subject areas.

I give this site a 5 out of 5 stars! It is a great resource for working on specific skills with students. I have used the printable books to work on word families and they were a great tool! It does have some religious content for private school use as well.

http://www.thinkfinity.org/ - lessons, games, activities, homework help, other useful resources. This website is sponsored by Verizon and it is a great tool for lesson plans. It has a search engine so teachers can look up any type of lesson plan they might be looking for in any subject matter. There are lots of interactive games and it is set up for students, educators, library/media specialists, and parents.

I give this website a 5 out of 5 stars! You can easily navigate the sight for whatever you are looking for. The home page is great because you can tell the page if you are a student, parent, teacher or librarian so it narrows the search for you.
